Residents at Haslington Lodge Care Home in Gravesend were treated to a heartwarming visit from Teddy, a friendly therapy dog, whose presence brought smiles, laughter, and a sense of comfort to everyone he met.

As soon as Teddy trotted into the home, tails weren’t the only things wagging—spirits were lifted as residents eagerly interacted with their new furry friend. Many enjoyed stroking and playing with him, while others simply found joy in his calming presence.

Therapy animals like Teddy are known to have remarkable benefits for wellbeing, particularly in care settings. His visit helped to reduce stress, promote social engagement, and even spark fond memories among those who had once owned dogs themselves.

Studies have shown that animal-assisted therapy can lower blood pressure, ease feelings of loneliness, and encourage physical movement—making visits like Teddy’s both enjoyable and deeply beneficial.

One resident shared, "Teddy made my day! He’s such a lovely boy, and I can’t wait to see him again."

The team at Haslington Lodge were equally thrilled by the positive impact of Teddy’s visit and are already looking forward to welcoming him back soon.
