Madeira Lodge Care Home receives a glowing testimonial and thanks from Neil Hunt Wellbeing Consultant at specialist later life consultants Plan with Care.
Neil expresses his gratitude to the carers and manager, Sarah Pennington, at Madeira Lodge for the way in which they supported and cared for the person he was supporting until her death.
The Madeira Lodge resident had lived in several other care homes over the past couple of years and on each occasion when difficulties arose the care homes either refused to have her back from hospital or gave notice and expected her to leave. Maderia Lodge were determined to work with everyone to provide her with a stable and supportive environment.
Neil said “Sarah and the team made it clear that they were more than willing to try and “go the extra mile” to keep this lady in an environment that was safe and secure, and where carers were familiar with her specific needs. When I spoke to my client she told me herself that the staff were lovely and that she didn’t want to leave Madeira. Unfortunately, she had an ability, due to her complex and troubled life history, to reject the very services that were trying to help and support her.
“Ultimately the support offered by Sarah and her team meant that she was able to stay at the care home where she was known, and her needs were understood, for the last weeks of her life.
“It meant that she didn't have to suffer the indignity and confusion of a move to a different care setting for potentially a matter of weeks. Although my involvement and that of my team at Plan with Care was limited on this occasion, we had every hope of collaborating closely with the team at Madeira Lodge to give her the best support that was possible.
“I would have no hesitation in recommending the support offered by these very caring managers and staff to the family or friends of any one of our clients.”
