We all love the summer sun but it’s during these times of extreme temperatures when going outdoors is not a safe place for us to be, so we had to get creative!
So, not to miss out on embracing our summer sun, and holiday memories, we had a beach day and brought the nostalgia of a typical seaside holiday indoors.
From a beach windbreak, to seaside promenade amusement games, and real sand, residents were treated to an authentic day completed with the pièce de résistance of fish and chips and an ice cream pudding.
Sally Ann Briggs, Registered Manager at Haslington Lodge care home says: “Wow, what an amazing day! We even had a paddling pool, real sand to make sandcastles and sculptures.
“Candy floss was available to all, which went down especially well with residents who were eager to team that with the amusement games. The best bit though was the paper wrapped fish and chips and an exclusive visit from an ice cream van to top off the day. It really couldn’t have been any more authentic.”
